George F, Moore IV, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on January 26, 1952, to George F. Moore III and Margaret (Gooley) Moore, George grew up in Ohio and graduated from Talawanda High School in Oxford in 1970. He later attended Aquinas College.
George lived a life full of passion, humor. and generosity. He loved British sports cars- especially MGs- -model cars, and working in his yard. He found joy in boating, attending car shows (particularly the Barrett-Jackson auctions), and making lasting memories with friends and family. Some of his favorite adventures included traveling to Disney World, cruising the Caribbean, and visiting St. Maarten- where he was known to devour over 25 ribs in one sitting at Talk of the Town. A lifelong boating enthusiast, George spent countless days on Lake Monroe and was instrumental in expanding the marina at Cutright in Bloomington, Indiana. He was a proud and loyal member of the boating community and formed lifelong friendships through the shared love of life on the water.
George's professional dedication was just as strong. During his 15 years at FedEx, his unmatched work ethic and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues and lasting friendships. His FedEx crew affectionately called him "the old man," a nickname he wore with pride and good humor, always ready with a story or a helping hand.
Family meant everything to George. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughter Maggie L. Moore, and remained close with his former wife, Cheryl A. Moore. He was also a beloved brother-in-law and uncle who cherished watching his nieces and nephews grow up. He endured long dance recitals, proudly supported every milestone, and even played his own special role-- presenting his daughter Maggie with "Miss America" flowers at the end of her recital, a moment neither of them would ever forget. He also once found himself unexpectedly spending the day at WrestleMania, tricked by his young nephews into seeing Hulk Hogan live -an experience he talked about for years with a grin.
George generously gave his time and heart to causes he believed in, including raising funds for The Friends Foundation. He was always willing to lend a hand where it mattered most.
He was preceded in death by his parents. George is survived by his daughter, his former wife, and his extended family and friends--who will remember his laughter, his loyalty, his big heart, and his love for adventure.
In celebration of George's life, a graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 8, at 2:30 pm at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery 9001 Haverstick Road Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.
