George Francis Morgan, 86, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
George was born on November 4, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late George and Helen Morgan. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for more than 20 years. Following his lengthy military career, he continued serving his country through 24 years of civil service.
Outside of work, George embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure. He loved riding motorcycles, flying his airplane, and spending time on the water aboard his boat.
An avid animal lover, he had a special bond with his chocolate labrador retriever, Ginger, who was rarely far from his side. He competed in world coon hound hunts and won numerous trophies, awards, and championship titles with his dogs.
George was a devoted family man who was married to the love of his life Carolyn for 60 years till her passing. He took great pride in caring for his children and was a constant source of guidance, support, and love. George leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Colleen Morgan of Morehead City, NC, and Robin Morgan of Newport, NC; sons, Dennis Morgan and George Morgan Jr., both of Newport, NC; sisters, Franny Brosco and Diane Ciauarelli, both of Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Morgan; daughter, Carolyn Morgan; 4 sisters; and 1 brother.
