Mr. George Wendell Mountjoy, 90, a long time Kentuckian, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Advent Health Hospital in Deland, Florida.
George was born in Anderson County, Kentucky on November 21, 1935, the son of the late George & Ida Jelf Mountjoy. After earning his Bachelor degree from UK, George went on to earn his Masters from University of Wisconsin. George was a US Army veteran, honorably serving his county as part of the Army Reserve All National Rifle Team and earning the rank of Sergeant 1st Class before his retirement.
Most notably was George's service to his home state of Kentucky, where he was a long time employee of the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources as the Senior Hunter Training Officer where he taught the Hunters Education Course from 1977 until 2012. He was a member of the Kentucky Hunter Education Association as well as the Anderson County Sportsman Club.
On December 19, 1970, George married the late Loretta Young Mountjoy and together they shared 46 years together until her passing in 2017. George & Loretta were faithful members of the White Oak Pond Christian Church, and later were members and involved in various ways at Union Church until their health prevented their attendance.
Survivors include: his daughter, Brandy Anderson (Chris); his grandson, Justin Anderson; one brother, David Mountjoy; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond with Rev. Rob Taylor and Rev. Kent Gilbert officiating. Military Honors will be observed at the close of the service.
Visitation will be after 2:00 PM Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Private family burial will be in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: David Rhodes, Dylan Taylor.
