George Ronald Moy Sr. of
Chesterton, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on December 26, 2025.
Born on October 29, 1935, in East Gary, Indiana, George made his home and raised his family in Chesterton. A hardworking and dedicated man, he owned and operated an HVAC company, earning the respect of his community through his integrity, reliability, and strong work ethic.
George married the love of his life, Mary Louise Moy (née Green) on February 13, 1954. George lovingly took care of Mary Lou for 74 years, serving faithfully as her barista and biggest cheerleader, always making sure she felt supported and encouraged, even during his final days.
George had a gentle heart and a long memory. As a child, his sisters once told him that the family had eaten his beloved pet chicken, "Blackie." From that day forward, George never ate chicken again-remaining forever loyal to Blackie. It was a small, humorous story the family loved, and a perfect reflection of his tender heart and lifelong devotion.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found joy in the simple moments of togetherness. George was endlessly proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, supporting each of them in everything they did and celebrating their accomplishments with joy and unwavering encouragement. One of the family's most cherished memories was George standing on the porch as loved ones left his home, flashing the porch light until they were safely on their way-a quiet but powerful symbol of his constant care and love.
George is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Moy; daughter, Mary Lou (Kenneth) Ranegar; grandchildren Erika (Zag) Bassirian, Heather Ledgerwood (Grant "The Most Wonderful Kind Man" Haring), Elizabeth (Christian) Nallenweg, Danny (Nicole) Moy, and Kenneth Ranegar (Alexandria Littell); great-grandchildren Dylan and Clara Nallenweg, Myles Ledgerwood, Hadley and Lincoln Haring, Riley and Sophia Bassirian, and Steven and Nathan Moy. His love extended just as deeply to his sister- and brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews whom he cherished as his own, especially his nephew Tommy Leasure, lovingly known as his "big boy."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Elizabeth Moy; brother, Bill; sisters, Mary Lou and Elizabeth; sons, George Moy Jr. and Gregory Moy; grandson, Jason Scott; and great-grandson, Gavin Scott.
George will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his gentle acts of love, and the steady presence he provided to everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on through the generations he cherished and the home filled with love that he built.
