Luis Fernando Arceo

Luis Fernando Arceo, age 84, of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. He was born on September 23, 1941, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamauilpas, Mexico to Amado and Maria De Jesus (Magallon) Arceo.

Luis is survived by his daughter, Maria Gill; son, Luis (Amber) Arceo; five granddaughters, Jackie (Ryan) Thompson, Lydia Gill, Sydney Arceo, Jocelyn Arceo, Nydia Arceo; great-grandson, Reese Thompson; brother, Gilbert Arceo; sister, Esther Alicia (Salvador) Garcia; sister in law, Cookie (Steve) Ruschak; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amado and Maria De Jesus Arceo; his loving wife of 55 years, Nydia (Toro) Arceo; and three brothers, Amado Arceo, Jr., Guillermo Arceo, and George Arceo.

Luis was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Germany. He retired from US Steel following 45 years of service. Luis was an avid collector of coins and baseball cards. He was a huge Chicago White Sox fan and Chicago Bulls fan and loved taking his grandchildren to games. He was a family man and loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, especially his great-grandson Reese, and his nieces and nephews, fishing, and teaching them about sports. He loved coaching his kids and nieces and nephews in baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball. He was a prankster and would do anything to make you laugh.

Funeral Ceremony will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
