Patrick B. Sutton

Patrick B. Sutton, age 83, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1942, in Cedar Lake, Indiana, to John and Doris (Appleman) Sutton.

Patrick is lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Tammy (Michael) Galindo, Tina (Brian) Beatty, Sara (Adeyinka) Soneye; four grandsons, Alex Galindo, Sullivan Beatty, Sterling Beatty, Tae-Min Soneye; granddaughter, Leilani Soneye; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Lynda (Kim) Sutton; three sisters, Irene "Bobbie" Dalke, Eleanor Malott, Norma Rittel; and five brothers, Roy Sutton, Jack Sutton, Charles "Bud" Sutton, Jim Sutton, Ted Sutton.

A proud graduate of Valparaiso High School and a United States Army veteran, Patrick built a life centered on hard work and devotion to his family. He owned and operated Rightway Auto Body & Sales in Portage for many years, earning the respect of customers and friends alike.

Patrick found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid fisherman who loved taking trips to Canada with his family and friends, competitive games of euchre - but only for money - and spending time gardening with his bride, Lynda. As the youngest of nine, he learned early how to stand his ground, a trait that stayed with him throughout his life. He was strong-willed, a little ornery, and deeply loved for exactly who he was.

Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and proud grandpa, lovingly known as "Papa". His presence, humor, and even his stubbornness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A gathering in his honor will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
