Donna Marie Barr

Donna Marie Barr, 82, of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away at her daughter's home in South Bend on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1943, in Gary, Indiana, to Daniel and Mildred Orlich. She attended Franklin School and graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1960. Donna worked at U.S. Steel Gary Works from 1964-2017 and served on the executive board for United Steelworkers local 2695. She was a member of St. Sava's Serbian Orthodox Church and St. Mark's Catholic Community in Gary and later became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chesterton. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, baking and volunteering at the Table of Plenty.

Donna is survived by her beloved cats, Arthur and Eve; her daughters, Christine (James) Boulware of Minnesota, Susan Skube of South Bend, and Kerry Barr of Illinois; and her granddaughters, Ivie, Addison, and Waverly Skube, and Lillian Boulware. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard Orlich of California, and Daniel Orlich of LaPorte, as well as her dear nieces, nephews, cousins and kumovi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel "Dusan" Orlich and Mildred "Milka" (Njegomir), Uncle Louis and Aunt Ann (Panepinto) Orlich, Tet Lillian (Orlich) and Uncle Adam Hojnacki, Uncle Steve and Aunt Mary Orlich, Teta Rose (Njegomir) and Uncle George Krga, Teta Jennie (Njegomir) Monocchio, and dear cousins Mark Orlich, Donald Orlich, Elaine Daniele, Richard Monocchio, and Joan Krga.

Mass for Donna will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday April 18, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton, Indiana 46304, with Father Jon Plavcan officiating. Friends may gather prior to mass beginning at 9:15 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana.
