MILLINOCKET - With profound love and deep sadness, the family of George Emile Pelletier announces his peaceful passing. Born on September 13, 1940, in Wallagrass, Maine, to Emile Gerard Pelletier and Anne Marie Bouchard Pelletier, George grew into a man whose strength, loyalty, and generosity touched everyone privileged to know him.
George graduated from St. Martin of Tours High School in Millinocket, class of 1958. Here, he also met the love of his life and future wife, Patricia Katherine Lappa. High school sweethearts, George and Pat built a lifetime of devotion together, marrying in 1965 and later renewing their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary in 2015, surrounded by family and friends who witnessed the enduring bond they shared. With family, they celebrated their 60th anniversary.
George attended St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 and spent three years stationed in Germany. A proud American veteran George carried the values of his service-honor, discipline, and dedication throughout his life.
George and Pat enjoyed their lives together in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Maine. They welcomed three beloved sons: Kristian Pelletier, Erik (Stephanie) Pelletier, and Noel (Erika) Pelletier. While in New York, George worked as a Director of Operations for MacDonald Corporation before following his passion for craftsmanship as a self-employed contractor. With skilled hands and a generous heart, George shared his talents with neighbors, friends, and community members, leaving behind both physical and personal foundations that will stand for years to come.
A man of deep faith and fellowship, George was an active and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, where he held several offices and was honored with multiple awards, including Knight of the year in 2010, 2015, 2023 and the Certificate of appreciation in 2025, recognizing his leadership, dedication, service, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
In 2008, George and Pat returned "home" to Millinocket to care for their aging parents. It was as though they had never left. High school friendships were effortlessly rekindled, and their circle of friends grew into a close-knit family. Many of George's happiest days were spent at the Bulley Camp on Millinocket Lake, sharing laughter, potluck meals, card games, and good wine with the people who meant so much to him.
George is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Patricia; his sons Erik and Noel. brother Mark (Sandra) Pelletier of Daytona Beach, Florida; his sister-in-law, Sister Carole Jean Lappa, RSR of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; grandchildren Kassandra Pelletier of Florida, Erika Coogle (Isaac) of Delaware, Ohio, and Stephen Pelletier of Troy, New York; and his great-granddaughter Lily Vivian Coogle. He is also remembered by his nephew Kevin Pelletier, nieces Natalie Pelletier and Karey-Anne Foster, and many extended family members and friends who were touched by his presence.
George is predeceased by his parents, Emile and Anne Marie Pelletier, his beloved son Kristian Pelletier, and his granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Pelletier.
Those who knew George will forever remember his warm smile, his dependable nature, and his remarkable ability to make a person feel at home. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and countless lives he supported along the way.
Friends may call from 10-11AM St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Immediately following calling hours, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St, Millinocket, ME at 11AM, with a reception to follow. Inurnment will take place in the spring at Millinocket cemetery.
