George Ploch Obituary

George Franklin Ploch
August 31, 1934 - February 12, 2023
George Franklin "Moose" Ploch joined his Lord on February 12, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 31, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas to George Joseph Ploch and Katy Bell Franklin Ploch. Mr. Ploch was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma Elizabeth (Betty) Ploch and his son, Paul Ploch. He is survived by his daughters, Melanie Starbuck and Lisa Tompkins (Mike); son, Dr. Nelson Ploch (Samantha); sisters, Sandy Peralta and Cindy Reynolds; grandchildren, Jason Moeller (Brittany), Lauren Johnson (Harvey), Natalie Ploch, Skye Lockwood (Ryan), Roger Ploch, Jack Ploch and Sam Ploch; great-grandchildren, Libby and Leland Johnson.

Moose graduated from Edison High School in 1953. He married his high school sweetheart Betty in December 1953, and they were married 53 years prior to her passing in November 2007.

Moose went to work for the family business, N.W.B. Foundation Co. and worked for the company for 37 years. The company's work in the pier foundation business included the Hemisfair Tower of Americas, the Air Force Academy and many other structures throughout San Antonio and Texas.

Moose was active in the Robert E. Lee Booster Club for many years and was a past president of the Booster Club.

Moose was a Life Member and Director Emeritus of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition where he served as the first committee chairman of the Operations Committee, past Executive Committee Member and inducted in the S.A.L.E. Hall of Fame in 2007 because of his dedication and many volunteer hours supporting the youth involved with the Livestock Show.

Our Dad was a tremendous father and cared deeply for his family and many friends. He was a true grill master and always loved cooking for his family and friends.

His second home in Port Aransas was where he went to relax and have fun. He enjoyed deep sea fishing never knowing what you would catch. He won an award for the largest Jack fish in the Deep-Sea Roundup fishing tournament in the 70's. He lived life on his own terms from the beginning to the very end.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at The Lodge at Leon Springs for their care and loving support.

I remember the man who was generous and had a smile for everyone. I remember Lee football and all the boosters friends at the parties before and after the games. Moose and Betty hosted a couples shower when I married for my family, future in-laws and our booster club friends. Again, always very generous. He will be missed by many and was loved all.
