George Proctor Obituary

Born Nov. 30, 1932 in Waterford, he was the son of the late John and Delphine Macy Proctor. He worked at Norton Co. in Watervliet for over 30 years until retiring in 1991.
George enjoyed life! The simple beauty of a sunrise, a mountainside in full color or taking a car ride with no particular destination.
He loved auto racing with a passion, claiming many victories throughout his life. He was inducted into the NYS Stock Car Association and Fonda Speedway hall of fame. His favorite saying was, "If I'm burning gas, I'm having fun."
George is survived by his loving children, George Proctor, Jr. (Jill), Ronald Proctor (Marcy), Thomas Proctor (late Lynda), Jeffrey Proctor (Jenn) and Mary Mann (James): by his sister, Mary Proctor Erno (late Raymond). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by the love of his life, Harriet Hill Proctor and by his siblings, Evalee, Leonard, John, Bill, Bob, Fred and Doris.
All are invited to a cemetery gathering to say goodbye to George on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024 at 1 p.m. in Waterford Rural Cemetery. Those attending should use the Davis Ave. entrance to the cemetery.
