Cohoes: Marjorie Theresa Minko Marois, 100, of Cohoes, entered into eternal life on November 13, 2025.
Marge was born on November 10, 1925 and raised in Troy, NY. She was the beloved daughter of the late Peter Minko & Catherine Symbolie Minko. She was predeceased by her siblings Marion (Edward) Driscoll, Philip (Dolores) Minko, & Elizabeth (Daniel) Clifford. She was also, predeceased by her very dear friend Sister Mary Aloise Almond, RSM.
Marge was widowed by her precious loving husband Donald J. Marois whom she married on October 5, 1950. They cherished 43 years of marriage before his passing on March 21, 1994.
A devoted and proud mother, she is survived by her three sons, LTC (Ret.) Donald (Melanie) Newport News, Va, Thomas (Marie) Clifton Park, & John (Barbara) Waterford. Grandchildren: Christopher Marois (Ginny), David Marois, Brian Marois (Kaylee), Lauren Alvarado (Cory), William Marois (Kailah), Dr. Anthony Marois (Allison) & Sarah Souza (Brandon). Great-Grandchildren: Jacob, Lucas & Quinn, with three more expected within the next few months.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's School, Troy, Catholic High School (Troy) Class of '43, & Mildred Elley Business School (Albany).
Marge worked for the NYS Department of Public works now Department of Transportation. She then became the First Assistant Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Albany. While living in Cohoes she was the Director of Volunteers at the Cohoes Multi-Senior Service Center, and the Account Clerk for the Cohoes Housing Authority.
Marge was a very active member in many groups; Catholic Women Service League, Cohoes Memorial Hospital Auxiliary now the Eddy, Cohoes Columbiettes Council 192, Catholic High Alumni & Van Schaick Island Country Club. She was a member & officer of United Commercial Travelers Council 403 of Troy and a Board of Director for Cohoes Senior Center.
As a faithful Catholic she was extremely involved in Sacred Heart Church. Marge and Don were consistently present and offered invaluable support at all of the parish events. She was a member & officer of the Mothers Club, Ladies of St Ann's, Parish Council member, Lector & Eucharistic Minister. Following the closure of her original church, she became a member of St. Michael's Church and served as a lector and an active member of the Rosary Society.
Marge had an abundant social life filled with many great friends. She loved to dance and was quite good! She would square dance and ballroom dance accompanied by Don with the Colonie Elks & Does. She danced in the Sound of Music at the Colonie Triune Musical Co. as Don was a singer. When she wasn't dancing it was shows, bowling, curves & lots of golfing.
Marge enjoyed many traveling trips with Don to Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Ireland, England, Scotland, Florida & many Eastern States. She continued on trips with her dear friend Sandra Meyer to Hawaii, Alaska & New Orleans.
Marge had a tremendous enthusiasm for people and adventure she was always on the go with her playful spirit and high energy. She mostly enjoyed the social aspect, developing friendships and building strong bonds with friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 20 Page Ave.
Cohoes, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, from 10-11:00 a.m., prior to the mass at church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
