George F. Raymond Jr., 76, of Whitehall, New York, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness.
Born on April 26, 1949, in
Yonkers, NY, George was the beloved son of George and Lucy Raymond. After graduating from Lincoln High School, he joined the New York City Police Department, where he served with honor and integrity in the 34th and 28th Precincts and later in the Warrant Squad.
After his years of service with the NYPD, George began a new venture when he joined his lifelong friend Lou at Capricorn Limousine Company. He started out as a dispatcher and, through his dedication and hard work, later became a partner in the business. Together, George and Lou shared many years of friendship and loyalty as they worked side by side.
George was known for his phenomenal work ethic. He approached every job and responsibility with dedication, pride, and a sense of purpose.
He married the love of his life, Zulma, and together they filled their home with warmth, laughter, and love. George and Zulma were the life of every gathering, always ready to celebrate and bring people together. Their legendary parties-especially during the summer months-were filled with good food, music, and the kind of joy that drew everyone in.
His hunting camp was one of his favorite places to be. Here he enjoyed long weekends sharing steaks, red wine, and stories with Zulma and "the boys." It was there, surrounded by friendship, laughter, and the simple pleasures of life, that he found some of his happiest moments. He also participated as a partner in several thoroughbred racehorses over the years and appreciated spending time at the racetrack. George was a lover of food and wine and loved it even more while sharing it with his siblings, Robert and Debra.
George and Zulma also cherished their time at their home in Cape Coral, Florida. He loved watching the boats pass by on the canal, relaxing by the pool, and soaking in the sunshine together. Those peaceful Florida days became a treasured part of their life, a place where George could unwind, smile, and simply enjoy the world he worked so hard to build.
George is survived by his devoted wife, Zulma; his children, Dr. George Raymond III (Sandra), Jeannine Raymond, and Anthony Raymond (Victoria); his beloved grandchildren, Chris (Brittany), Georgie, Allysa, Gianna, and Oliver Raymond; and his great-grandchildren, Everly and Rhett. He is also survived by his loving sister, Debra Sullivan, and her husband, Gerry; his brother, Robert Raymond, Esq., and his wife, Jackie; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He will also be deeply missed by many friends, extended family members, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
George lived life with an open heart and an unshakable spirit. He worked hard, loved deeply, never voiced a complaint, and found joy in every moment shared with those he cared about. His laughter, strength, and kindness will forever echo in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Sinatra Memorial Home, 499 Yonkers Avenue,
Yonkers, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial to honor and celebrate George's life will take place at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 409 E 241st Street, Bronx, NY.
Private cremation to follow.
