George Lee Reed was born April 10,1928 in Hardin County, TN, the son of Jess Lee and Rose Lee Reed and passed away Monday, November 10,2025 at his home He attended school in Saltillo. He was married to Betty Lou Hollin Reed on May 1, 1948 and enjoyed 66 years of marriage together. George entered the U.S. Army in January, 1952 and honorably served in the Korean War. Following his discharge from the Army, George returned to Lexington and worked for Brown Shoe Company for 17 years. He was called into the ministry and received training at Lambuth College and Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. George served Methodist churches in Lexington, Huntington, Camden, Greenfield, Michie, and both Nebo and New Hope in Lexington, where he attended regularly after his retirement.

In September, 2014, George married Ava Nelle Veteto Reed and they made their home together until her death in 2024.

George was a member of the Modern Woodman of the World, Masonic Lodge 50 Year Member and the Scottish Rite.

He spent many years traveling with the Sound Masters Quartet. George enjoyed golfing, basketball and fishing when he was able and watching the Lady Vols.

He is preceded in death by his parents and half-sister Gladys Wright.

He is survived by step-daughters Ginger(Kevin) Bankston and Jan(Bill) Page, brothers-in-law Bill(Joyce) Hollin, Tommy(Karen) Hollin and many nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews and their spouses. Funeral services will be Friday, November 14 at 11AM at the First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Milledgeville Cemetery. Visitation will be at Reed's Chapel on Thursday 4PM-6PM and at the First United Methodist Church on Friday 10AM until time of service. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the New Hope Methodist Church 4470 Shady Hill Rd. Lexington,TN. 38351.
