George V. "Bob" Ribble, age 92, of Hettick, IL, died Friday evening (May 9, 2025) at Lakeside Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born August 14, 1932 in Hettick, IL the son of William Jesse Ribble and Sarah Amelia Thompson Ribble. He married Mary Ellen (Fischer) Ribble in Barnett, IL on May 24, 1970. The couple would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in two weeks.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen Ribble of Hettick, IL; his children, Leslie Starasta (Michael) of Lincoln, IL, Paul Ribble of Springfield, IL, Beth Duhon (James) of Katy TX, Derek Ribble (Teri) of Bloomington, IL, and Ryan Ribble of Hettick, IL.; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; siblings Bill Ribble (Mary Lou) of Kansas City, MO and Judy Mikush of St. Charles, MO, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Tom Ribble, a daughter, Lisa Ellen Ribble, and a grandson, Jeffrey Dean Rice.
Bob was the Northwestern High School class of 1950 valedictorian, in Palmyra, IL. After serving in the U.S. Air Force (1952-1956), he raised livestock, primarily dairy cattle, and grain on the family farm. Bob loved his family and animals and always enjoyed a good book and a cup of coffee.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (May 16, 2025) at Grace Baptist Church in Palmyra, Il. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery in Hettick, Il. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to SPARC where his son resides and sent to Stults-Neece Chapel, 349 E.
