Freda Evelyn Gagnor, age 93, of Palmyra, Il. died early Monday morning at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, Il.
She was born July 3, 1932 in Carlinville, Il. daughter of the late Fred John and Dorothy Elizabeth Alma Rose Schwab.
She married Fred Gagnor on July 3, 1953 in Carlinville, Il. and he preceded her in death on November 15, 2004.
Surviving are her children, Evelyn Harris (Paul) of Modesto, Il., Freddie "Ed" Gagnor (Karen) of St. Peters, Mo., and Ernie Gagnor (Anita) of Palmyra, Il.; grandchildren, Lisa Grilly (Joshua), Kevin Harris (Brian Thompson), Emily Rozycki (Ricky), Dana Bryan (Brad), Deanna Zebelman (Jon), Angela Calcara (Phil), and Anthony Gagnor; great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Andrew, Harrison, Vivienne, Brynn, Colin, Kylie, Brooklyn, Mia, Gavin, Quinn, Paxton, Elliana, Harlem, and Berkeley; and siblings, Wilbur, Darlene, Rosa, Freddie and Anita; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great- granddaughter, Olivia Mae Grilly; and siblings Betty Meisenheimer, Idamae, Johnny, Joe, and Art.
Freda was a graduate of Carlinville High School. She attended beautician college and became a beautician working for Geneva Quarton. In 1966 she worked for J.C. Penny Beauty Shop in St. Louis, Mo until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Modesto Baptist Church, and Silver Thimble Quilters Club. Freda loved to quilt, crochet and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and playing with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday (September 30, 2025) at Modesto Baptist Church in Modesto, Il. Entombment will follow in at Mayfield Cemetery in the Mausoleum of Valor in Carlinville, Il. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to Northwestern Education Foundation, Silver Strands, or Modesto Baptist Church and sent to Stults-Neece Chapel, 349 E. Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692.
