George E. Richmond

George E. Richmond, age 86, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
George was born on November 20, 1937 in Elcomb, Harlan County, Kentucky, son of Homer and China (Hubbard) Richmond. He married Sharon Huett on November 13, 1960 at Madison Ave Methodist Church in Peoria. She survives.
Survivors also include children, Ralph "Rocky" (Kellie) Richmond of Corona, CA, Timothy Richmond of Peoria and Lynn (Ernest) Maison of Springbay, IL, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and sister Gerry Corrington of Dunlap, IL and half-brother, Kenny Hicks of Dunlap, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
George proudly served in the US Army. He worked as a carpenter, and then worked until his retirement in Utility and Services at Komatsu. He was a member of the American Legion in Spring Bay, IL for over 30 years. He was a long-time member of the Hanna City Sportsmen's Club, the Peoria Prominaders, and the B&B square dancers. George was an avid bowler and loved to fish. His most precious gift was family. Our hearts will go on, but will continue to mourn from the lack of his presence.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Funeral Service will be at the Mortuary on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 10:30 AM, with a half hour prior visitation. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery with Military Honors.
