George Sanderson Obituary
George honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956, as a member of the 3rd Marine Division during the Korean War. His commitment to duty and service remained a lifelong source of pride. Following his military service, George dedicated 28 years of his career to Mack Trucks in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he was known for his strong work ethic and loyalty.
George was also a devoted Freemason and active member of several Masonic bodies. He was a member of the Blue Lodge, the Royal Arch Masons, the Council, the Knights Templar, and the Shriners. Through these organizations, he exemplified the values of brotherhood, charity, and integrity. He will be remembered for his service, dedication, and quiet strength.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Shirley C. Sanderson; children, Joseph C. Sanderson (Lisa Evans Sanderson) and Pamela (Sanderson) Rebbert (Richard); grandchildren Cassidy (Sanderson) Levy (Matthew), Jesse (Sanderson) Moran (Darryl); Richard G. Rebbert (Abigail Corcoran), and Thomas F. Rebbert; and great-grandchildren, Audrey Levy, Lauren Levy, Josephine Moran, Walter Moran, and Richard D. Rebbert.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William H. Sanderson; and sister, Marian Smith.
A service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breakthrough T1D.
