Obituary of George E. Schureman, Sr.

George E. Schureman, Sr., age 90, of Claymont, DE., and formerly of Garden City, Wallingford, PA, died on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Born in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late George W. and Dorothy H. (Mosher) Schureman.

A graduate of Nether Providence High School, Georgie was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and later the U.S. Navy, where he served during the Korean War.

George was employed by the former Scott Paper Company, where he was a maintenance mechanic, until his retirement.

George loved a good round of golf, a lively card game with friends, the excitement of horse racing, and never missed a chance to watch his favorite sports teams play.

George was the husband of the late Eleanor E. (Wilson) Schureman, and brother of the late Dorothy Elliott, Maryann Smith and Joanne Mellace.

Son: George E. (Edith) Schureman, Jr.

Daughter: Susan E. (Michael) Ward

Grandchildren: Ryan and Rebecca Schureman, Sean (Brittany) Ward, Melissa (Michael) Ritz.

Great Grandchildren: Leo Charles Ward and Melania Marie Ritz

Sisters: Deanna Mellace, Gay Profitt and Barbara Jean (Ray) Capman.

Also survived by Nieces and Nephews

Visitation: Tuesday, September 23 rd after 10:00AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 23 rd at 11:00AM at the funeral home.

Interment: Chester Rural Cemetery.
