George J. Scripp

Resident of Schaumburg

Mass of Christian Burial for George J. Scripp, 88, will be Wednesday, September 24 at 10 am at Holy Archangels Parish, the St. Matthew Church Campus, 1005 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine.

George was born March 29, 1937 to the late Julian and Evelyn Scripp (nee Weber) in Chicago, he passed away September 18, 2025 in Hoffman Estates.

George was the oldest of four siblings and spent much of his life caring for his parents and siblings. After attending a Catholic seminary as a young man, George chose a career in education, serving as a teacher and principal throughout his long career. He earned three master's degrees in English, Education and Theology. George possessed a thirst for knowledge and a deep love of learning, which he shared with his many students. He also loved traveling and learning about other cultures.

Beloved brother to Martin (Carol) Scripp; loving uncle to Emily, Amanda (Ben), and Stephanie (Jeff), cherished great uncle to Molly, Zachary, Gabriel, Andrew and Lucas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Evelyn, his brother, David, and sister, Rosalia.
