SEDER, George Abraham. November 13, 2023. Age 76.
Beloved husband of Sabah Dib. Loving step-father of Michael Dib (Carrie), Dawn Gazzarato (Michael), and the late Jacob Dib. Proud and loving Gido of Mason Dib. Dear brother of Mtanos and the late Issa, Nadim, and Moussa.
George was born and raised in Fairouze, Syria, and was the 4th son of 5 boys. Following his mandatory service in the military, George immigrated to the United States. He started working in a small factory with his father and brothers before he began working at Chrysler in his 20's and enjoyed a full, 30-year career, on the assembly line. George had many hobbies including playing cards, working on cars, listening to music, photography, and videography and he was an avid traveler. At any given time, he would get in the car and drive all over the country, including
Florida, California, and southeast Mexico. George was an amateur videographer. For decades he would invest in the latest technology in video equipment, and record every major event in the community, including church celebrations, weddings, baptisms, and birthdays. George never missed the annual pilgrimage to
Carey, Ohio, to visit the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation Basilica, during the celebration of the Assumption, every August.
George had a heart of gold and was very dedicated to his family. He sponsored and housed many of his nephews and nieces, during their initial immigration from Syria, until they were able to establish themselves. He took pride in all their lifetime accomplishments and made many trips to Los Angeles to celebrate special occasions.
Most importantly, George, stepped into the lives of Michael, Dawn, and Jacob, when they were young and provided guidance in their lives. His unselfish dedication and love for them provided a loving stability that enabled their successful futures.
George held dual citizenship and had a love for his village of Fairouze as well as his Syrian Heritage. He never took for granted his love for the United States as well, as the life that he was able to lead. His American Citizenship was a very important and proud personal achievement, he even voted in every single election. He was also a devoted Syrian Orthodox Christian and loved serving his community.
In the latter part of his life, his love for his grandson, Mason, gave him a sense of love that he demonstrated every moment he spent with Mason.
Finally, George loved his Fairouze and surrounding village communities. He truly felt that each and every person from these communities was his family.
