George Seelig Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hewett - Arney Funeral Home on Mar. 14, 2025.
George Lara Seelig, Jr. aged 81, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in Little River-Academy, TX. He was born on July 31, 1943, to parents George Lara and Martha (Lara) Seelig in Hondo, TX. At some time, his family decided to make the move to the Bell County area.
He grew up in Little River-Academy attending school. Somewhere along the path of his life he would meet the love of his life, Estela, they would get married and stay devoted to each other for 40 years. George and Estela would stay in the area for their whole life setting up their home and family. He would work many different jobs in Temple and Belton, mainly landscaping. It was his favorite job to be able to mow yards and make the yard look beautiful. He was good at his occupation and had a very strong work ethic.
George was an early riser and started out the day with a cup of coffee but would drink it throughout the day because he loved that cup of "joe". He had a very strong love for his family and always treasured his time with them. Although he had a bad habit of smoking cigarettes, it was his time to relax and unwind no matter the cost. One of his favorite past times was watching Grit TV, loving to see the good old westerns that brought back happy memories of when the shows on tv were made to bring families together. All his friends and family will miss him, but his memory will be cherished forever by all.
He leaves behind in this world his loving wife, Estela of Belton. He was blessed with a daughter, Rosie Lara of Belton, 2 sons Tony Seelig of Temple and George Lee Seelig III of Belton, and a sister Sara Seelig Tovar of Little River-Academy. George will also be missed by his faithful dog who sat by his side offering his unconditional love always. Those left to mourn his passing will always remember their happy times together and treasure the love and memories made for all time.
Services will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Friday, March 21. 2025 at 12:00 PM and the visitation taking place Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 pm. Following the service, George will be interred in Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River-Academy.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home of Temple has been entrusted with the care of all arrangements.
