George Wallace Shields, Jr., 81, of Greenville, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, in Greenville, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 26, 2025 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Bench officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until service time. Interment will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.

George was born July 26, 1944, in Greenville, Texas to George Wallace Shields, Sr. and Louise McCraw. He married Carolyn Ann Tapp on February 12, 1971 in Greenville, Texas. He retired from L-3 Communications after 42 years as a Technical Illustrator. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Greenville.

He is survived by his son, Rod Cook and spouse, Terry Jones; daughters, Holly Walker and husband, Key Walker, Andrea Lucas and husband, Patrick Lucas and Becky Shields; grandchildren, Ashley and Chad Waters, Mason Lucas, Emily and Clayton Stewart, Logan and Julia Lucas, Sydney Walker, Jaxey Walker and Jude Walker; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Shields, parents, son, Robert Dane Shields, twin grandchildren, Carson and Ryley Walker; and aunt, Wilma Cunningham.

Pallbearers are Jude Walker, Hunter Waters, Kaden Waters, Chad Waters, Clayton Stewart, Logan Lucas and Mason Lucas.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Folks.

Memorials may be made to SEEK Camp, Megan Raca, 5905 Flint Ridge Drive, Flower Mound, Texas 75028.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Briarcliff Nursing and Rehab, along with the staff of Family First Hospice for the care of their father.
