George Christopher Flecher Smith, a native and resident of Elmira, NY, died suddenly on September 22, 2025. He was only 52 years old.
George was a loving father and husband who dedicated his life to caring for individuals with special needs. He was a man of faith who believed in being the hands and feet of the Lord by sharing God's love with everyone. He was also a sports fanatic and die-hard NY Giants fan.
He was preceded in death by his father David L. Smith; his mother-in-law Jean Mueller; and his sister-in-law Hope Faulkner and her husband Ed Faulkner.
He is survived by: his beloved wife Faith (Mueller) Smith: his children - Roland Coates, Miracle Smith and fiancée Josiah Nelson, and Sarah Smith; his grandchildren - Jalissa Woughter, Sofiannah Coates, Izzabellah Coates, and Amara Skinkle; his mother Lillian (Robinson) Martone; his brothers David Smith, and Tony Martone and wife Ashley; his sisters Christine Smith, and Marcy Martone and fiancée Rocky; his fathers-in-law Harold Mueller, and William Kissel; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a celebration of his life on Thursday, October 9 at 6:00 PM at The Way Center, 132 Oakwood Ave. Elmira Heights, NY 14903, to be led by Pastor Jeff Redner.
