George Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heartland Cremation & Burial Society - Blue Springs on Dec. 5, 2025.
George (Bill) Alvie Billy Smith, 84, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on November 28, 2025. Bill was born on February 16, 1941 in Eldorado, OK.

Bill dedicated many years to Jackson County, OK as Deputy for the Sheriff's Department of Altus, OK and later became one of the lead detectives for the department. Bill was a huge part in obtaining justice for many families within his community. Later in life Bill continued to serve his community as an armed security guard at a local grocery store. Once the sun went down, no woman ever walked to their car alone and never lifted their own groceries into the trunks of their cars. Bill carried many titles throughout his life but the one he was most proud of was "Papa".

Most remembered by his infectious smile, kind soul, forgiving heart and good company, Bill was everyone's favorite 'real-life' cowboy. He enjoyed watching his favorite westerns paired with a mug of 'Betty's Recipe' Roasterie coffee. He loved having a cup of coffee with those he loved.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, George Smith; mother, Lois Smith (Gossett), sisters, Paula Kay Leadbetter (Smith) and Eva Lois Brewer (Smith), granddaughter Kassie May Sparkman and many of his life long friends.

Bill is survived by his wife, Pamela Smith (Caverly), daughter, Savannah Todd (Smith) and husband Brad, daughter, Tina Smith, step-daughter, Charity Lincoln (Hagley) and husband Wade Lincoln, son Bobby Smith and wife Alice, son Billy George Smith, grandchildren, Brody Mohart, Chloe and Jimmy Todd, Bailey Vogel (Smith) and husband Tre, Madison Smith, Tate and Dak Smith, Dallas Smith and wife Emily, Tim and Tanner Robison, Meg and Charlie Lincoln, Nephew David Leadbetter and wife Tabitha, great nephews Tyson and Kaden Leadbetter, great niece, Sawyer Leadbetter, and many great-grandchildren.

Bill was loved beyond measure and will be missed immensely. The world lost a great man but heaven gained a wonderful angel.
