George Soderholm Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tewksbury Funeral Home on Sep. 16, 2025.
George P. Soderholm, age 91, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025 at Royal Meadowview Nursing Home in North Reading, MA. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn M. Soderholm, who predeceased him on February 20, 2025. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on May 6, 1934, in Lynn, MA, George was the son of the late George A. Soderholm and the late Jean (Rando) Soderholm. He was raised and educated in Lynn. After completing his education, George proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Caloosahatchee (AO-98), and was honorably discharged. He later went on to work for many years with the United States Postal Service.
George had a deep love for travel-first exploring the world during his Navy service, and later enjoying cruises and memorable trips to Aruba with his wife Evelyn during their retirement. He had a natural gift for making friends in any setting. Known for his warm, easygoing nature, sharp sense of humor, and genuine kindness, George left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He also had a lifelong passion for horse racing and enjoyed visiting the Rockingham Park Horse Track in Salem NH and Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, NY.
A devoted parishioner of St. William's Church in Tewksbury, George was actively involved in the community as a longtime member of the Men's Club and the church's Bingo program.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin Soderholm and Peter Soderholm, both of Tewksbury, and his sister, Joanne Woodland of Lynn. He also leaves behind his beloved pet, Oliver, who brought him much joy and companionship.
In addition to his wife, George was predeceased by his brother, Robert Soderholm.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass, which will be held at a future date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in George's name to the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts/New Hampshire at alz.org
