George Speece Obituary
Born in Lebanon on February 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Sylvester J. and Lois M. Reichard Speece. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force. George had worked for the Lebanon Daily News and then worked in maintenance and as a truck driver for Fort Indiantown Gap. George enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, baking, walking, fishing, and he loved attending his granddaughters' sporting events.
He is survived by his children Scott Speece of Lebanon, Todd Speece of Lebanon, Deidre Mertz of Green Point and LeeAnn Speece of Lebanon; brother Harry Speece of Lebanon; sister Patricia Fisher of Lebanon; grandchildren Jocelyn Mertz, Derek, Josh and Matthew Speece; great grandchildren Liam, Nolan, Cora and Annie; his longtime companion Susan M. Plasterer of Lebanon and her daughter Amy wife of Eric McCorkel of Benton and their children Luke, Nolan and Olivia. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Sandra Dove Speece and his sister Susie Snyder.
Inurnment with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date.
