I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
Graveside Services for George Avery Spence, age 81, of Carriere, MS, who passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024 in Carriere, MS will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 10:00 am at Pearson Cemetery.
Burial will be in Pearson Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Rev. Bruce McKenzie will officiate at the service.
A native of Carriere, MS, he was a Heavy Equipment Operator and a member of Union Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, and riding the roads with his cousin, Brenton Spence.
He was preceded in death by parents, Van Buren Spence and Helen Gertrude Mitchell Spence; his wife, Evelyn Suzette McQueen Spence; his daughter, Katherine D Spence; his sisters, Vannie Sue Spiers and Bobbie Joe Spence; and his nephew, Jeffrey Spiers.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Jean Perrette Burks; his brother, Billy (Sue) Ray Spence; his sisters, Elaine Wierengo and Janice Mitchell; his nephews, Anthony (Shelly) Wallace, Johnny (Sherry) Wierengo, Billy (Jennifer) Spence, Stephen Wallace, Jonathan (Lauralyn) Spence, and Josh (Traci) Spence; his nieces, Angelia Pierce, Marcy (Terry) Robinson, Susan (Darren) Fradella; his stepsons, Kelton Burks and Derwin Burks; his 4 step-grandchildren; his 9 step-great grandchildren; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
