George H. Stake, Sr., 90, of Port Royal, passed away on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 at 2:52 p.m. at Geisinger Medical Center Danville. Born on March 28, 1935, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is the son of the late Harvey J. and Olive (Armstrong) Stake. He is survived by his son, James Stake and wife Nanette of Lewistown, a sister, Ann Goodling, grandchildren, Kolton Stake, Chris Stake, Theodore Stake, Jennifer Stratton, as well as great-grandchildren, Max Bastamonte and Bennett Stratton and Tori as well as various great-great grandchildren. George was also survived by various nieces. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rhoda Stake, who passed away on December 23, 1988, and his second wife, Lydia Stake, who passed away on May 7th, 2016, he is also preceded in death his son, George Stake, Jr. Mr. Stake worked as a truck driver for Milton Transportation and Laughlin Poultry. George was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church; he was a former member of the Port Royal Lions Club. He enjoyed shooting pool at the American Legion Post No. 298, hunting, playing skill games and riding snowmobile. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 5th at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, PA 17059 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Allen Hulslander officiating. Interment will follow at New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
