George Sullivan

George C. Sullivan passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the age of 71.
A lifelong resident of Philadelphia and devoted Philadelphia sports fan, George was a familiar face around the neighborhood. He had a generous spirit and loved helping others, no matter who they were. George enjoyed serving as a baseball umpire for many local recreation and CYO teams, and was known for striking up conversations with anyone he met.
He spent over 30 years working as a die-setter at the former Budd Company, and later went on to work at PennDot. He was the current president of Budd UAW Local 813.
Most of all, George loved spending time with his family - whether on their summer vacations or cheering on his grandchildren at their various sporting events.
He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Maria C. (nee Anello); loving father of Christopher (Stephanie) Sullivan, the late Brian Sullivan, the late Mark Sullivan and Jennifer Sullivan Elwell; and cherished Pop-Pop of Logan, Brooke, Ryan and Olivia. George is also survived by his siblings, Rosemary Ashton, Veronica Eroh, Beverly (William) Cheeseman, Carol Sullivan, Barbara (Raymond) Jastrzebski and the late Gary Sullivan.
He will also be deeply missed by his in-laws, Linda (Frank) Snyder and Phyllis (Irnie) Levy and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Calvary Church, 11024 Knights Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
