I've known George since the early 80s. First as a landlord, then as a friend and boss. Without George (Duke), coming into my life I truly wouldn't have what I have obtained in my life. He created a warm and supportive environment with unending encouragement. His abilty to tell a story was a true gift, captivating, animated and never short - still you knew you would be laughing by the end of them by his delivery alone. It seemed George was known by most of South Philadelphia, his name, and his brothers Bruce and Pat afforded respect from so many when doing tasks for the business or personal. George was also known to most of his tenants as kind, helpful and very understanding when any of them was dealing with financial difficulties. His loss will be felt by so many, the only comfort are the memories of his kindness for so many years. He will be missed.
