Sátoraljaújhely, Hungary- George Szilagyi, D.M.D., 62, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025 in the town where he made his residence, practice and raised his family.
He was born on April 21, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Jean (nee MacKenzie) and the late Rev. Stephen T. Szilagyi. George was a 1981 graduate of Sewickley Academy. He attended Robert Morris University and received his Doctorate of Dentistry from the University of PÉCS in 1993. He remained committed to Hungary and it's people and devoted most of his career to helping folks in family dentistry in Sátoraljaújhely. Early in his career he was also a forensic odontologist for the United Nations in Kosovo.
He helped his father, Stephen with SARA (Sharing Americas Resources Abroad) serving as the European Liaison. George also enjoyed the outdoors and was a founding member and current president of the metal detecting club. Growing up George was a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Demolay International.
George was a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan. He was loved by many and will be remembered as a kind soul who helped fellow colleagues and citizens where he could.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Valleria, whom he married in 2005; his dear mother, Jean; four wonderful children, Sara, Oliver, David, Eliza; and his cherished siblings, Nathalie and Mike.
George was preceded in death by his father, Stephen.
Funeral services were observed at the Palhazi Cemetery according to the rites of the Reformed Church.
