George Francis Tauber, 97, husband of the late Doris Anna Timberlake Tauber, passed away March 2, 2025.
Born in Washington, DC, son of the late Edwards E. Tauber and Eleanor R. Brewer Tauber McCauley. He served in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force retiring as a CMSgt in 1965. George received the Joint Communications Medal for his recovery communications work in the Project Mercury and Gemini Space Programs. After his military career he worked and retired from the Federal Government and civilian computer companies as a Communications and Logistics Support Manager in the Washington Metropolitan area. He was also a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician for 32 years in Prince Georges County MD and a volunteer firefighter at the Keowee Key Fire Department in Salem, South Carolina for 2 years. He was also a volunteer at the Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. For 12 years.
Surviving are his children, George F. Tauber, Jr. (Anna) of Madison, New Jersey, Karen L. Wilson of Los Angeles, California, and Christopher A. Tauber (Natalie) of Boynton Beach, Florida; a granddaughter, Jessica O' Shea of Denver, Colorado; and grandsons, Sean C. Wilson of Los Angeles, California, Andrew R. Tauber of Madison, New Jersey, Alexander G. Tauber of Madison, New Jersey, and Casey P. Tauber of New York, New York; and two great grandchildren, Adele Wilson and Francis O' Shea.
Mr. Tauber was predeceased by Edward E. Tauber.
Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
The family will be at their respective homes.
