George "Donnie" Teel

George "Donnie" Teel of Stokes, NC. died Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at ECU Health Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2025, at Pinewood Memorial Park Mausoleum, 4150 E. 10th St, Greenville, NC. The family will have a visitation prior to the service from 2:15 to 3:15 at the Mausoleum.
Donnie was born in the Belvoir community and grew up in Greenville. He attended JH Rose High School and shortly after high school worked with Cox Armature Works as a mechanic. He later worked for North Carolina Equipment Co. and Hardee and Cox Welding before starting his own business, Teel's Welding and Repair in Belvoir. After more than 20 years of operating his own business, Donnie went to work with the NC Department of Transportation. He eventually moved to Stokes and retired after 19 years. Donnie loved working with his hands and could "build, create, or fix" virtually any project put before him. His lifelong career as a welder was well known and respected throughout Pitt County. In 2015, Rebecca and Donnie, along with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ellen and Billy Owings, opened Grapevine Decor Antiques & More in Grimesland, NC.
Donnie loved fishing, traveling, and watching old westerns while relaxing at home with his wife, Rebecca, and dog, Lizzy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Elbert Teel & Elizabeth Teel; his sister, Peggy Teel Carter; and a son, Christopher Alan Teel.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Rebecca Warren of Stokes, NC; daughter, JoEllen Teel of Greenville, NC; two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
