George T. Thompson, age 83, of Wilmington, DE passed away on August 20th, 2024.
Born in Salisbury, MD, he was the son of the late Erma (Livingston) and Clyde "Toby" Thompson. He graduated from St. Andrew's School in Middletown and the University of Delaware, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha. George graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and two Master's degrees in Business and Cultural Economics. George went on to work professionally at Westvaco as a Commercial Analyst until his retirement. He was an avid softball player, spending time playing on the Westvaco softball team, had a love of classic cars and enjoyed watching the Phillies. George enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Las Vegas with his wife, Dee, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. George also loved telling stories and sharing 'his' words of wisdom.
George is survived by his lovely wife of 63 years, Deloris "Dee" (McCutchan) Thompson; his children and their spouses, Lori Shannon (Steve), Shawn (Kim) and Lance Thompson; grandchildren, Shelby (Nick) Brooke and Ashley, Katie (Anthony), and Ryan (Emily); and great grandchildren, Chloe, Cash, and Alaina.
A visitation will be held for George on Saturday September 7th from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. with services commencing at 11 A.M. at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Salvation Army.

I couldn't have asked for a better friend growing up. We made each other laugh. I can't forget his golf swing...but I've tried! So many good memories....Rest easy my friend.
