George "Tim" Regis Truly, 81, formally of Frostburg passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024 at UM Upper Chesapeake Hospital in Belair, MD surrounded by his family.

Born on May 8, 1943, to the late Delores Rose Truly Thompson and George S. Truly.

Tim's love for teaching became a realty after he graduated from college with a master's degree in mathematics and education. Tim taught for 36 years, spending most of his time at Flintstone Middle School.

Anyone who knew Tim knew he loved to tell jokes with his dry sense of humor. He would give the best bear hugs, and always with a growl.

Surviving is his wife of 31 years, Anna Lee (Stott) Truly; brother, Howard Michael Truly and wife Kimberly; sons, Peter Truly and Matthew Truly; daughters, Margie Long and husband John, Melissa Ruff and husband Randy, Holly Nies and husband Greg.

Tim was better known to his family as Pappy. He also leaves behind several grandchildren that meant the world to him; Seth O'Rourke, Joshua O'Rourke, Brooke Miller, Brandon Larkin, Ricky Tyler Bennett, Ryan Filer, and Andrew Filer, along with several great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 12 to 2 PM

Funeral service will follow at 2:00 with Rev. George Harpold Officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Allegany County Public School c/o Truly Math Funds: 108 Washington St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
