George D. “Pop” Vercher was born in Cloutierville, Louisiana on July 6, 1942 and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 4, 2024 at the age of 82. Mr. Vercher resided in Harvey, LA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was married 60 years to Valerie Adams Vercher whom he adored and cherished. Wonderful and loving father to Annette LaRose (Darrell), and Georgette LaRose (Keith). Son of the late Louise Troquille Vercher and Leon Vercher. Brother of Lloyd Ray Vercher and the late James, Joseph and Francis Milton Vercher. Grandfather “Poppa” of Troy Vercher (Renee), and Luke LaRose, whom he loved dearly. Loving Godfather of Roy D. Vedros, Jr. Special friend of Dennis and Claudia Vallery. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful lifelong friends. He retired from the Mississippi River Grain Elevator in Mrytle Grove. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 222, Sons of the American Legion and Forty and Eight Veterans Organization. Relatives, friends of the family and employees of #1 Bail Bonds Company, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and Geaux Green Ground Maintenance are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 1:30pm. Visitation will be held from 9am until 1:30pm. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Special thanks to his grandson, Troy, his niece and nephew-in-law, Donise and Igor and especially, Interim Health Care Hospice for providing such amazing help and compassion during this difficult time.
