George Ward Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Huber Funeral Home - Excelsior Chapel on Jan. 17, 2026.
George "Larry" Ward, age 80, of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026.

Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy; his sons, Nicholas (Alexandra), Andrew (Alison), and Stephen (Alison); his grandchildren, George, Aksel, Aron, Anastasia, Grant, and Sullivan; his sister, DeDe (Scanlon); and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Teresa Ward, and his sister, Mary Jane.

Larry's greatest joy in life was being the father of three sons and an active participant in their many interests and activities. He served as pack master throughout all of their years in Cub Scouts and continued volunteering for several years afterward. He loved coaching, mentoring, and contributing as an active member of his community.

Larry worked for forty years as an independent insurance agent. What he valued most about his career were the relationships and friendships that naturally grew from his daily interactions. Larry was known and loved by everyone, he met-he was the life of the party, always the first to offer a compliment or a well-timed joke.

An avid golfer, Larry rarely turned down a chance to play a round and could always be counted on to join friends at the 19th hole for a craft beer or cocktail. In retirement he extended the golf season in Arizona with good friends and family.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held when the greens are new and vibrant. Details will be announced at a later date.

Please make any memorial donations to the American Parkinson's Disease Association – Minnesota Chapter, www.apdaparkinsons.org "In the name of George 'Larry' Ward".
