George Wawak

George Wawak 72 yrs. old, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Lake Charles, LA. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 23, 1951, to his parents Claude and Mary Wawak.
George Wawak moved to Lake Charles more than 40 years ago. Once in Louisiana and Lake Charles, he embraced the area and considered himself a Cajun. When he was younger George enjoyed motorcycle riding and traveled from coast to coast. He liked to tell the story that his wife gave him money and a credit card and told him go and come back with a better attitude. He did. After he was no longer able to ride, he enjoyed camping and RVing. He most enjoyed going to the "deer woods" every Thanksgiving with one of his good friends. They never hunted, but just enjoyed roughing it and the fun they had.
George was very talented in whatever he set his mind to, whether it was the automobile upholstery he did before retiring or anything else. His upholstery included everything from four wheeler seats to classic cars to hot rods and show cars. He included in some of his jobs his signature handlebar mustache to let anyone know he had worked on that car. His talent also included being self-taught in carpentry and building or inventing anything else he thought up.
He is survived by his loving wife Regina Spencer Wawak of Lake Charles; sister, Debi Gefell and husband Frank; brother, Larry Spann and wife Lisa; daughter, Shannon Dupuis and husband Todd; 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents. He was also preceded by Jeweleen Wawak, his stepmother but considered his mom.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation on Thursday January 18, 2024, at 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles at 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA 70605.
Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
