George Edward West III, age 72, of Gallatin, TN passed away unexpectedly at Sumner Regional Medical Center on January 15th, 2025. George was born on August 26th, 1952, in Hyattsville, MD to the late Mary and George West Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Debbie West, his daughter Hilary Cunningham (Adam), stepdaughter Natalie Mauldin (Jeremy), and stepson Zachary Kemp. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Turner Wright, Eli Kemp, and Christian Mauldin. George also leaves behind his siblings Patti Sullivan, Michael a.k.a “Fuzzy” West, Daniel West, and Robert West, as well as many other relatives and friends.
For the majority of his journey, George embraced the role of a salesman, where his passion for talking and networking; and spirits and alcohols blossomed. As a liquor distributor, he was not just a conduit for fine beverages; he became an aficionado, sharing not only knowledge but also his love for the art behind them. His ambition did not merely confine him to distribution—he ventured into entrepreneurship, owning his own liquor store, a testament to his dedication and flair for the business.
Those who crossed paths with George were often charmed by his gift of gab. He had a rare ability to spin tales that captivated audiences, whether recounting cherished moments from his life or sharing light-hearted jokes that could brighten even the cloudiest of days. With a personality as bright as his smile, he stepped into every room filled with positivity and warmth, leaving an uplifting and optimistic mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to engage with him.
Beyond the world of sales, George found solace in simpler joys. He was a devoted fan of football, eagerly watching games unfold on the television, his enthusiasm only matched by his fondness for evenings spent in watching movies with his beloved wife. Each flickering frame on the screen became an extension of their shared moments—a backdrop to love, laughter, and the quiet joy of companionship.
George leaves behind a legacy not just defined by professional success but by the boundless spirit he brought into the lives he touched. His laughter will echo in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him, reminding them of a man who celebrated life with every ounce of his being. As they carry forward his memory, they are left with a treasure chest of stories, laughter, and the eternal warmth of George Edward West III, a true storyteller and optimist in the grand narrative of life.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 30th, from 1pm until 2pm at Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin. A Memorial Service will follow at 2pm.
