George Elliott Wilcox, 93, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025 surrounded by family. Born on April 24, 1932, he was the son of Milton and Ethel Wilcox.
George graduated from Elyria High School before attending Baldwin Wallace College, where he earned his degree in chemistry. Following his graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country.
After completing his military service, George began his professional career at U.S. Steel. He later found his lifelong vocation with Research Cottrell, where he specialized in electrostatic precipitators for pollution control-work that took him across the country and around the world. George took great pride in his contributions to environmental technology and the meaningful impact of his work.
A man of meticulous craftsmanship and endless curiosity, George loved working with his hands. Whether it was woodworking, building intricate Lego or K'nex creations, or tackling any project that demanded precision, he approached every endeavor with patience and care. He often spent days assembling elaborate models, only to disassemble and rebuild them for the joy of the process, or donate them to local libraries so others could enjoy them.
For the past eight years, George was a resident of Rose Senior Living where he remained active. He enjoyed attending social events and forming friendships with the many residents and staff who surrounded him. In his last several years, he found special joy in painting small decorative rocks, which he shared as gifts to others as well as those at Rose Senior Living.
Above all, George cherished his family. He is survived by his children David Wilcox (Maria), Nancy Vacante, and Laurie Mitchell (Tim); his grandchildren Daniel Mondelli (Adrianna), Matthew Mondelli, Mark Wilcox (Sabrina), Mia John (Jay), Ryan Horace (Kalyn), Kevin Horace (Amy), Nicole Harder (Joe), Michael Mitchell (Tricia), and Lauren Murphy (Kevin); and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Ethel Wilcox; his sister, Josephine; his granddaughter Ashley Mitchell; his former wife, Marilyn Wilcox; and his second former wife, Janet Wilcox.
As we say our final goodbyes, we do so with full hearts, grateful for the 93 years we were blessed to share with him.
George will be laid to rest at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, Ohio.
