He is survived by his children, George (Sandy) Wilson, Jr., Michael (Gail) Wilson, Stephen (Honi Hershey) Wilson, Christina (Michael) Dodds, David (Vicki) Wilson, Patricia (Jim) McMenamin, Julie (Rob) Covert, and his sister, Helen Utterback. He had 26 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Joan; his son, Richard; step mother, Mildred (Dickerson) Wilson; two brothers; two sisters; and four grandchildren, Angela, Richard Jr., Geoffrey, and James.
He enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, dancing, camping, and during their long retirement years, he and Joan loved traveling in their motor home.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 am on Wednesday, September, 10, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel-to-Towers Foundation and Samaritan's Purse.
The family invites those who knew George to share their memories, photographs, and condolences online, helping to honor his legacy and keep his memory alive.
