Mr. George Evans Wood (Skibo), 49, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA.
Mr. Wood was born in Halifax County, VA on February 9, 1976 to George and Maxine Redd. He attended Randolph Henry High School and was a former employee of Pallet One in Chase City, VA. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Skibo was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Tabitha L. Redd and Crystal D. Redd; and one brother, Orenzo J. Redd.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Yolanda Wood; three daughters, Shaquonna Wood, Sharonda Wood (Kevin) and Shalondra Wood; three grandchildren, Krystal M. Hawkins, Ja’Kobe L. Renfroe, and Ja’Kye Renfroe; his parents, George and Maxine Redd of Saxe, VA; four sisters, Shavon D. Redd, Maxine D. Redd both of Saxe, VA and Evelyn Y. Fields (James) of Red Oak, VA and Latasha Staten of Richmond, VA; brother, Demetrius Staten of Richmond, VA; two uncles, Vincent Wood and Vernon Wood; mother-in-law, Diane Hargrove of Boydton, VA; one brother in law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. George Evans Wood will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 5, 2025 at New St. Douglas Baptist Church, Boydton, VA with Pastor Shirley Williams delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
