George Wysocki Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial on Dec. 15, 2025.
George Robert Wysocki, age 71, passed away on December 6, 2025 in New London, Connecticut. George was born on September 8, 1954 to Frank and Pauline Wysocki in Newington, Connecticut, where he spent his childhood. He was a great lover of nature and was happiest when backpacking in the mountains, camping in the forest, or canoeing the rivers of New England. He once canoed upstream on the Connecticut River from Hartford to New Hampshire. He spent some time in Maryland learning to build boats, and built himself a beautiful wooden canoe. He was also an avid bicyclist, and enjoyed many cycling adventures around the country. On March 28, 1988 he married Cheralynn, the love of his life. For 36 years they shared their love of animals. They always lived in rural settings where they could enjoy the local wildlife. They were never without a dog, and cared for any homeless cat that came their way. Throughout his life George had a great concern for the poor. For many years he collected discarded bicycles which he rebuilt and gave away to area children who couldn't afford a bike. He frequently helped out persons in need, and was known to give away his own possessions because someone else needed them more than he did. George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheralynn Wysocki, his father, Frank Wysocki, and a niece, Elizabeth Goff. He is survived by his mother, Pauline Wysocki, four sisters; Jayne (Tim) Aston, Kate (Richard) Bialecki, Gayle (Dave) Welch, and Lynne (John) VanDoren; ten nieces and nephews; and twelve great nieces and nephews. Pursuant to George's wishes there will be no memorial service. Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial is serving his family.
