Georgene E Fuchs

Georgene Eleanor Fuchs passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer. Born Georgene Eleanor Severa near Stanton, Nebraska. Georgene grew up on a farm with one older sister and two younger brothers to George and Elanor Severa. She spoke Bohemian and English until she attended school, then mostly English. She learned some of her many skills such as sewing, cooking, canning, and gardening.

On October 28, 1951, Georgene married her hometown friend Warren Fuchs. They had four kids and moved to a farm near Frazee, MN, in March of 1961 to be near one of Warren’s older sisters. They milked cows and continued to raise beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. Georgene was a seamstress for her family and many other people including wedding and bridesmaid gowns. She reupholstered furniture and decorated many wedding cakes.

In 1974, Georgene and Warren left the Farm and moved into the town of Frazee where she continued enjoying, sewing, gardening, reupholstering, canning and her many crafts. She also chauffeured her older friends to their appointments; she joined coffee club and read many books. She hand painted an entire Christmas Village with over 55 buildings, 120 people, wagons, horses, and trees. She also loved cooking healthy meals and baking goodies for her family.

Georgene’s greatest joys were spending time with her nine grandchildren: Candice Guck (Ryan) of Ottertail, MN, Darren Doll (Cassie) of Fargo, ND, Brandon Doll (Natasha) of Perham, MN, Matthew Coufal (Sue) of Clinton, Maine, Mark Coufal (Rebekah) of Dent, MN, Miranda Coufal of Moorhead, MN, Meagen Davidson (Matthew) of Osage, MN, Amber Fuchs of Northern Maine, Andrew Fuchs (Courtney) of Fargo, ND: 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Georgene is survived by her 4 children: Walter Fuchs (Renee) of Pelican Rapids, MN, Cathy Doll (Gary) of Perham, MN, Clara Coufal (Loren) of Lake Park, MN, and Pennelope Wey (Richard Mortimer) of Tempe, AZ; 2 younger brothers, Dennis Severa (Clara) of Stanton, NE, Reverend Kenneth Severa (Jackie) of Hemet, CA: niece Jennifer Severa of Santa Monica, CA: nephews Jay Severa (Erica) of Atlanta, GA, Bradley Severa of Lincoln, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Eleanor Severa; sister Leona Severa and nephew Brian Severa.

Services will be held at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN, on Monday, July 21 at 11am, with a visitation an hour prior. Please join the family for a reception following the service. An informal procession to Lakeside Cemetery in Frazee for Internment will immediately follow the reception. The family of Georgene Fuchs would like to ask everyone who attends the funeral to wear something bright colored or of floral print to remind us of all her beautiful flower gardens and to plant a tree in her memory.
