Georgette Marie Hinkle, 61, of Mayetta, KS, passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 22, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS. She was born August 19, 1964 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Loyd and Adeline (Jessepe) Horn.
She graduated from Platte County R3 High School in 1982. Attended the University of Missouri for one year and went on to earn her LPN degree from a vocational college in Missouri. She proudly served in the United States Air Force.
Georgette was an LPN for over 20 years at hospitals, assisted living facilities and as an Agency Nurse. She also served as Director of Nursing in care facilities in the Overland Park, Kansas City and Topeka areas. She owned and operated Prairie Beads out of her home and proudly made Native American jewelry.
She was a proud member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Georgette married Bruce Wayne Hinkle on November 19, 2011 in Topeka, KS.
Survivors include her loving husband, Bruce of the home; son, Christopher Mann (Sarah) of Algonquin, IL; her parents, Loyd and Adeline Horn of Parkville, MO: sister, Debra Davis of West Des Moines, IA; brother, Loyd D. Horn of Kansas City, MO and 6 nieces and nephews.
Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Wetmore Cemetery. Georgette will lie in state Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Beck Bookman Library c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
