Georgette R. (Laurent) Letendre, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the age of 86 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Alfred J. Letendre with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.
She was born in Lowell on May 15, 1937, one of eleven children of the late Elphege and Yvonne (Hubert) Laurent. She was educated in the Lowell school system. Georgette was a loving housewife and homemaker who along with Alfred raised their nine children.
Georgette truly embedded herself in the Lowell community as a former Miss Lowell, she worked at several local businesses including The Sweetland Garden and Franco-American School, as well as alongside her husband in the construction trade. She was a captain in the color guard for Ste Jeanne d'Arc Parish Drill Team and she enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Georgette also enjoyed being in nature, taking long walks, riding her bike with her husband, the beach, antiquing in search of her next special find, birdwatching and seeing the snow owls in the winter at Hampton beach as well as enjoying seafood wherever they could find a good plate. Most weekends you could find her on the next adventure alongside her husband, experiencing the best that New England seasons have to offer.
Surviving her in addition to her husband Alfred are four daughters and two sons-in-laws: Cheryl Ann and Alan Saba, JoAnn and Oscar Fernandez, Jacqueline Letendre and Danièle Letendre; four sons and four daughters-in-laws, Alfred and Caroline Letendre, Richard Letendre and Betty MacGeorge, John and Rachel Letendre and Brian Letendre and his partner Becky Milinazzo; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Laurent; two sisters, Laurette McAneney and Annette Mercier, a sister in-law Gertrude Desroches and a brother-in-law Edward Letendre and his wife Sharon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Elaine Letendre and sister of the late Elphege and Claire Laurent, Alfred and Cecile Laurent, Albert and Aline Laurent, Roland Laurent, Therese and Robert Bergeron, Claire Cripps and Cecile Laurent.
She is also predeceased by William and Annette Letendre, Arthur Letendre, Rita and Oscar Paquin, Jan Baril, Terry and Paul Descoteaux and Pauline Letendre.
Relatives and Friends will be received on Saturday, March 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the TYNGSBOROUGH FUNERAL HOME, 4 Cassaway Dr, Tyngsborough. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following at 11:30 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Rita, 158 Mammoth Rd., Lowell.
