North Smithfield - Georgette (Brais) Smith, 104, of North Smithfield passed away peacefully Thursday, August 21, 2025 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald R. Smith.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Achille J. and Ernestine (Ostiguy) Brais, she had lived in Pawtucket for most of her life before moving to Smithfield in 1996. She has lived in North Smithfield for over the past seven years under the loving, kind and respectful care at St. Antoine's and HopeHealth Hospice.

Georgette was a secretary at Teknor-Apex, Pawtucket for 28 years before retiring in 1983. She was a former member and past social secretary and president of the Esmond Village Tenants Association. She was also at Girl Scout Leader for five years at St. Cecelia's Church, Pawtucket, and was a volunteer at Butler Hospital, Providence for five years.

A lifelong communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Pawtucket, faith and prayer guided Georgette's life. Loved by all, she led by example demonstrating strength, resilience, patience and gratitude. Georgette was a talented artist and lifelong learner.

She is survived by her loving children, Susan Wade (James) of Narragansett, Lynn Orellana (Jon) of Livermore, CA, Robert Smith of Warwick, Melanie Noll (Jeffrey) of Smithfield and Christopher Smith (Dawn) of Johnston; her three loving sisters, Jacqueline Harrington of Huntington Beach, CA, Annette Tetreault of Pawtucket and Lorraine Roberts (William) of Colrane, MA; her beloved nine grandchildren and her beloved nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gertrude Gagnon and Thelma LaRose.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 9:00 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. John the Baptist, 69 Quincy Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours on Thursday from 9:00 - 10:00 AM.
