MORTON – Georgia K. Heth, 67, of Morton, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on December 22, 1956, in Peoria, to John and Mardell (Beard) Heth.
She was preceded in death by her parents and niece, Alison Heth.
Surviving are her son, Kortlan Hopping-Heth of Morton; sister, Helen Jarvis of Fulton, Mo.; brothers, John Heth of Morton and Alan (Lisa) Heth of Edwards, Ill.; nieces, Casey Heavrin, Angela Bauer, Catlin Wisdom and Keeley Bratten; great nieces and nephews, Isaac and Levi Bauer, Cooper and Crew Heavrin, Walter Camp, Margaret Larson, Julie Wisdom and Dean Camp; honorary grandson, James Happach and her close friends, Amy Davis, Lisa Bievenue, Ginger Rombach-Adams and Leonard and Donna Kaufman.
Georgia earned her bachelor’s degree from Milikin University. She then attended and graduated from Stanford University Law School.
Georgia worked for the Illinois Attorney General and later served as regional counsel for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and retired in 2017.
She served as President of the American Contract Bridge League Board of Directors and World Bridge Federation Executive Counsel.
Georgia was a foster parent and the happiest day of her life was when she adopted Kortlan. She also fostered numerous other children and maintained a special relationship with her honorary grandson, James.
Georgia loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Fulton Church of Christ with the proceeds benefiting Jesus Loves Children Ministry.
