Georgia Herrin Hinson

Georgia Louise Herrin Hinson, wife of the late Arlis C. Hinson, Jr., died March 21, 2025.
Born in Covington County, Collins, Mississippi on July 31, 1935, she was the oldest daughter of the late Ralph H. Herrin, Sr. and Bradis Eleanor Stennett Herrin. She was a graduate of Salem High School (now Collins Consolidated) and William Carey University, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, having earned a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education in 1957.
Georgia was a devoted wife for almost 60 years, a public-school teacher, office manager, and administrative secretary. The Hinson's worked together in complementary roles in several facilities where Arlis served. The couple lived in seven different states in their fifty-nine plus years. Upon retirement in 1998 they chose Anderson, SC as their adopted city and state and chose First Baptist Church as their Church Family. She was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and taught the class every fifth Sunday, as long as her health permitted.
Georgia is survived by her brother Herman Herrin (Sharon) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and her brother-in-law Frank Phillips of Philadelphia, Mississippi. She is also survived by a niece, Andrea Louise Phillips Chesney (Tim) of Brandon, Mississippi, and two nephews Howard Layne Herrin (Sherry) of High Level, Alberta, Canada, Kevin Scott Herrin of Solana Beach, CA and six great nieces and nephews: Skylar Chesney, Gavin & Parker Herrin, Harper, Kemper, & Knox Herrin.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Nell Drew Herrin Phillips and a nephew, Brent Herrin Phillips.
Georgia served in the life of the churches she was a member of as: S.S. Teacher, G.A. Leader, WMU President, Chairman of Missions, and Denominational Relations Committee.
Georgia enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening until her health no longer permitted her to continue. She was also an avid TV Sports Fan of basketball, softball, baseball, football, tennis, and golf.

Interment will be in Crystal Springs, Mississippi at the Hinson Family Plot at a later date.
