On February 7, 2023, our Memphis Queen of Civil Rights and Humanity transitioned to receive the crown of glory. You wrote your own living obituary and divine testimony of serving our others unconditionally.
To our precious Queen Mother of the Civil Rights Movement, may your work and devotion to this community be edged in the hearts and minds of your Memphis family forever. The red, black and green flag has been lowered in honor of our beloved elder. Our ancestors are rejoicing with you now. Words cannot express the footprints you have left in the hearts and minds of copious of individuals that you touched with the warmth of your rare kindness, beautiful smile, gentle touch and steadfast advice.
We have lost a cultural library of knowledge in your passing. You were the pillar of what a faithful and diligent foot soldier was in all the glorious greatness. Your smile and kindness have been the glue to so many people's spirits and souls. Even though your precious biological children are grieving, thousands of your community children grieve with them in our unspeakable loss in this city.
Thank you, sweet mother for always standing with me in the storms of injustice for our people. May God add a special blessing to your family and friends in these difficult grieving times. It is said, we loved you so dearly, but God loved you best. Rest our Queen of royalty and grace. Well-done you faithful and unselfish servant of the people. Affectionately known as Queen Akua. We release you to our beloved ancestors and the most high, God.
